Duties & Responsibilities:

Performs consultation on highly complex and unique technical issues which lack engineering precedents and require the application of advanced engineering principles. Evaluates complex technical issues and recommends actions or programs for their resolution. Leads high caliber engineering teams to develop feasibility studies, proposals and preliminary design documents for unique projects or programs. Participates in technical and industry societies and committees to enhance knowledge of new technologies or issues in areas of Company interest. May provide training and direction to other engineers

This position will work helping the client succeed with projects in microgrids, electric vehicle and grid integration, and distributed electric vehicle charging resources. Candidate will provide engineering and testing to demonstrate implementation through simulation, lab, and field results. A successful candidate will be proficient with many responsibilities including:

  • Validation and testing of microgrid and transportation electrification use cases
  • Lead Commissioning, testing and demonstration in field
  • Evaluation of EVs to serve as energy storage resources to the Grid
  • Rule 21 compliance
  • Development, documentation, and review of test plans
  • Use of RSCAD to model medium voltage systems, PV models, electric vehicle charging management, grid integrations, synchronization, protection systems and recommend necessary distribution upgrades
  • Installation and integration of the control systems in QAS lab environment
  • Cybersecurity integration and IT testing for SCADA and communications integrations
  • Leading Project simulation and demonstration in lab and field
  • Microgrid and Energy Storage, DERs, islanding, resynchronization
  • Microgrid control systems and implementation
  • Support development of vehicle to grid related requirements
  • Vehicle to grid Demand Charge Mitigation, Load Leveling, Rate-based Charging Management, Response & Voltage Support and Resiliency
  • ESS based load leveling and load management
  • Evaluation of a Distributed Charging Management System that interfaces with utilities management systems

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • Strong Experience with RSCAD/RTDS
  • Strong Experience in Microgrid/Energy Storage, DERs, Vehicle to grid integration
  • Masters Degree in Engineering or Masters Degree in a scientific/technical field and recognized inside and outside the Company as an expert in a specific area.
  • Ph.D. in related technical field preferred.
  • Professional Engineers License is preferred. For some positions, a Professional Engineers License is required by local, state or federal agencies
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, practices and advanced engineering principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of latest technologies necessary to perform a variety of specialized, unique or complex assignments for various installation types of services.
  • Limited number of personnel available in the industry with the required knowledge, ability, and experience.
  • Possesses fifteen or more years of experience in specific areas of engineering.
