Networks (DC&N) team is seeking a Mid-Level Quantum
Applications Software Engineer in Huntington Beach, California, El
Segundo, California, or Fairfax, Virginia.This position is with the
Quantum Computing Applications team comprised of scientists and
technology strategists conducting research and development for
aerospace applications. The team is responsible for the concept,
requirements, architecture, design, development and demonstration
of applications to show feasibility and business value.The
successful candidate will have excellent communications skills and
work well in a team environment to support the needs of DC&N
and the Quantum Computing Applications team. You will directly
partner with company stakeholders and program management to deliver
the highest value capabilities, performing demonstrations along the
way. This position requires proven experience within the software
ecosystem, a unique background of project experience, and the clear
exhibition of superior judgment and decision making to engineer new
solutions and capabilities. Critical thinking and troubleshooting

- Perform definition of software requirements, architectures,
algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems
- Perform development and integration of complex software
components across numerous components and subsystems into a fully
functional software system
- Perform software test procedures and environments, execute the
tests and document results to ensure software system requirements
are met
- Contribute to program engagements and demonstrations with
partners and customers on software capability, development, and
integration into larger software architectures and
environments
- Contribute to the identification, innovation, implementation of
new tools and processes to support this work scopeThis position is
hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to
perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially
change in the future.This position requires the ability to obtain a
U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S.
Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is
considered active)Basic Qualifications (Required
Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited
course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering,
Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical
degree
- Experience modeling and optimization algorithm design and
implementation
- 3+ years of experience with Python
- 3+ years of software development experience in a collaborative
team environment using agile principles and a structured
development process including code reviews and automated DevOps
processes/toolsPreferred Qualifications (Desired
Skills/Experience):
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Experience developing in Qiskit
- Experience with quantum computing compilers
- Experience developing software in C, C++, Java, and Shell,
Tcl/Tk, Perl, and/or Python.
- 5+ years of experience developing in Python
- 5+ years of software development experience in a collaborative
team environment using agile principles and a structured
development process including code reviews and DevOps
processes/tools
- Experience with software development in an agile environment
(e.g. SAFe methodology)
- Experience using team collaboration tools including Git, JIRA,
Confluence, Artifactory, etc.
- Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration
tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain
(Gitlab, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, etc)Typical
Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired
through advanced technical education from an accredited course of
study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or
chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related
work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education
and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not
required, accreditation standard.This position offers relocation
